I’m in love. the quality is great. of course right after I forced myself to update the blog even though nothing had happened UPS decided it’d be a good time to drop these off. two blog updates in one day? I’m out of line.

so I’m, what, a bit over two weeks into twitter and I’ve already amassed 2081 followers. most of the referrals to this blog and bumblesea are coming from my twitter account. certainly beats hawking products on myspace.

weather’s great, zucchini’s growing. I’m getting everyone I can to play badminton tonight. can you tell I haven’t gotten any work done lately?

I want to grow a little moss garden but every time I attempt to it dies off. I’ve tried transplanting clumps and this method. what am I doing wrong?

and in the time it took me to write this tiny update, eight people have added me on twitter. add add add.

photo of one of the newer silver pieces. pure silver, pigments, india ink. I don’t even wear jewelry and I think I’m going to make one of these for myself. not available for sale yet but it should be up within a few days.

getting lots of work done today, BAM!!! TACOS!

fun things that should be done soon: new business cards (now I can finally use my new slick business card holder), new photos of the line (the current photos are making me physically ill every time I look at them), the new acrylic line, press releases, photos of the studio, bam bam bam. I’m ready to start promoting and schmoozing journalists and bloggers, it’s what I do best. grace bonney, I swear one day you’re gonna love me.

meet jamie ribisi, my newest art crush

one of the best things about being a part of the handmade community is the trades. I used to love trading with artists, but I think the current price point of my jewelry (from $35-$275) might scare off most traders.

anyway, I was scouring etsy for sellers that participate in trades and I found this amazing artist, jamie ribisi. I fell in love with her “how much tea I drink in a week” encaustic painting series.

a quote from jamie about the series:

“Ok, I have a problem. I *love* tea. That may not sound like a problem but I *REALLY* love tea and when I made this group of paintings I actually sat down and figured out how much tea I drink in a week, on average. I drink about 17 cups of hot & iced tea a week. I’m ok with that, especially if there are cookies involved.

This encaustic painting has actual tea leaves embedded in it– vanilla spice chai to be exact (my favorite!). It has the a tally of 17 hatched into it to reveal the underpainting which is the bestest olive green. The overall color is how I like to drink my tea– milky! This was really a great mix since the painting smells like chai tea with honey– perfect!”
